Ron Thomas

Ron Thomas has been a BCARES member since 2003 and currently serves on the board as Primary Representative from the Longmont Amateur Radio Club.

I’ve had a few folks ask about setting a headshot picture for their account, so I thought I’d post the information up here. If you haven’t yet done it, take a second to go to https://en.gravatar.com/site/signup/ and enter your email address to start the registration process. It’s quick, easy, and it will help us all recognize each other by sight rather than just voice or call sign.

A schedule of the net control stations (NCS) for the BCARES Monday night nets is back on the web! Acting as NCS is one of possible components of your required Net Qualification in the new Certification and Credentialing process, so take a look and contact Jane Przedpelski (K0FGE) to sign up.

As a reminder, the BCARES weekly nets are held every Monday evening at 20:00 local time on the 146.760 MHz (-) repeater, courtesy of the Rocky Mountain VHF Society. All interested amateur radio operators are encouraged to participate.

By now, most of you should have received a packet in the mail outlining the new BCARES Certification and Credentialing Program (or C&C). The needs and requirements of our served agencies are growing, and, as a result, the board has developed a new C&C program that will help ensure that we’re continuing to assist our served agencies in a safe and superlatively effective manner. If you haven’t seen the letter yet, have a look below for a great introduction to the new process.

Welcome to the new and improved BCARES website! The website committee’s primary goal was to provide a more interactive and flexible communications method for the membership. Please have a look around the new postings, menus, and other cool functionality and share your comments. If you’re looking for something on the old website, it’s still mostly available at http://bouldercountyares.org/Archive12.6.2011.

Thanks and 73,

2011 BCARES Website Committee

Check out the events page.  At the time of this post, I only have Operation Mountain Guardian posted (and the information isn’t necessarily correct).  Once we get going, we can use this to list our upcoming events and even RSVP for them!

Check out the brand new Training page for a list of links to FEMA and ARRL training.  What training content are we missing?

Check out the documents to the right for updated BCARES documents.  We’ve uploaded the suggested net script, a practice log, and the brand new membership application.

We’re meeting at the Boulder County Communications Center  – 7 PM
Downstairs in the Pawnee Rm.
Please review Mike’s meeting minutes ahead of time.

See ya’ll there !     Yeah !    Milk and cookies !

Thanks,   73

Dale – KA0QPV

Welcome to the new (and hopefully improved) BCARES website.  Ben Fenster and I are working on adding content to the site and developing a method for all board members (perhaps all BCARES members?) to become active participants in website updates and management.  Please ping us through personal email or on comments here if you’d like more information or are interested in helping.
